Currently Watching No. 1

There is no better way to sit down and relax then by watching some good ol' TV. Throughout the year, I always have something to watch, and I use it as a motivation to finish my school work early. I don't have Netflix at the moment (but I'm really hoping to get it soon,) so all of these shows are ones that are currently playing. I hope you will enjoy this new series as I love finding out what people like to watch! (Beware though, my guilty pleasure is reality shows.)

The Return of Superman (Sunday on Youtube-KBS World TV) | If you're looking for an hour and a half of pure cuteness every week, this show is definitely for you. The show follows four Korean families but focuses on the dads and their young children. It's so cute to see the fathers so passionate about taking care of their kids as this is often perceived as a mother's job. All of the children have so much personality, and it's the one of the only shows I watch with pure joy as there is absolutely nothing trashy about it.

We Got Married (Sunday on Youtube-We Got Married Engsub) | This reality show is about six famous Korean celebrities who are paired up and "married." They do they whole deal from having an actual wedding to furnishing their own house. It's adorable to see some of the couples actually fall in love.

The Bachelor (Monday at 8 p.m. PST on ABC) | This one is similar to the previous show as it deals with love but in a different manner. However, it's still a fun one to watch. I've started watching this dramatic show ever since Sean's season, and the contestants have definitely gone downhill from there. However, I'm still an avid watcher. I'm already getting a bad impression of Chris, but I will definitely watch till the end to get in some good laughs as the girls are really something. (Everyone needs some comic relief, right?)

Dance Moms (Tuesday at 9 p.m. PST on Lifetime) | When I was younger, I was extremely passionate about ballet for five and a half years, and I still love to watch people dance to this day. This show features some extremely crazy moms and an even crazier dance teacher, Abby Lee, but I'm a devoted watcher as I love to see the girls dance (and a little bit of laughter from all the drama doesn't hurt either.)

Switched at Birth (Tuesday at 9 p.m. PST on ABC Family) | This used to be my absolute favorite show when season one and two were out, but I lost a bit of interest ever since. It's about two girls who were accidentally switched at the hospital when they were born, so they grew up in two very different families, one affluent and one poor. One of the girls, Daphne, is deaf, so this show has taught me so much about the deaf community. Emmett, my personal favorite character, is also deaf, and he is truly such a cutie! I didn't watch much of season three, but season's four is on now, and I have started to love it once again.

Child Genius (Tuesday at 10 p.m. PST on Lifetime) | Studying Psychology this year in high school has really grown my fascination with IQ. I realize that IQ is not an accurate representation of a person's level of intelligence as there are many different facets of intelligence; however, I am still in awe when seeing children with extremely high IQ's. This is a competition where selected eight to twelve year olds face off in different rounds from Astronomy to Vocabulary, and I am always amazed by how much their brains can process. Makes me a bit jealous at times!

Boysitter (Saturday on Viki) | I'm quite the Korean drama watcher, but I thought it was about time I try a Chinese drama as I am after all, Chinese (and what better way to brush up on my Chinese skills!) This Taiwanese rom-com series is about a woman named Yuan Fei who runs into her childish boyfriend from six years ago, Hao Jian Ren. They are soon working at the same company and end up in a very interesting love triangle (or as I like to think of it, love square.)

What shows are you currently watching?

  1. Oh, I've just been planning on writing a post like this; it's always fun to know what other people love to watch! I actually haven't heard of a few of these. I'm definitely big on the dramas so one of my favorite shows is 'Revenge' :)

  2. Right? I love TV show recommendations! Make sure to give me the link when your post is up :) Revenge is a great show, but I'm a bit of scaredy cat so I only watch it with my friends. Sadly, they are all caught up, and I'm only on Season 1 :(

  3. I haven't watched tv in months because I've been too busy lately. I'm excited for Orphan Black to come back, and hoping to make the time to watch How To Get Away With Murder.

  4. Oh my, I don't know how you do it-haha! That's great though that you practice such self-control as that is an area I definitely need to work on. I'm not good with dealing with anything scary, so "How to Get Away with Murder" is probably not the best show for me, but Suits is quite fun if you're into legal shows :) Funny though because I've been involved with four years of mock trial, but I'm still a huge scaredy cat-haha

  7. Ha, I feel you! I hardly made it halfway through the first season of Pretty Little Liars because I would get so creeped out watching it. Though, if you get the chance, definitely keep watching 'Revenge' - so good, they've especially done a great job not going totally off the rails like many other shows would do by now. :)

  8. I like the sound of all of these, especially switched at birth! I love the mystery type of dramas, I can't get enough of them! The picture is lovely, a bit random but I love your pillows... x

  9. I'm in the UK so no chance of me seeing it. I suppose there are ways and means but I've got enough to watch at the moment. Do you watch any UK shows?

  10. The Return of Superman sounds really cute! I still feel like I can't watch We Got Married because it's so "set up" but I might give it a try. Boysitter sounds interesting as well, I haven't seen any Chinese dramas if I recall correctly (shame on me). If you're looking for a good K-drama I recommend Liar Game, it's really clever and has so many twists!

  11. I've only heard of a couple of these shows. I love Dance Moms but the new season feels a bit forced now and not really focusing on all the girls' dancing. I still watch it though as I love dancing too. I have been also loving Grimm, The Flash and reruns of Rupaul's Drag Race (haha).

  14. I have to agree with you that I hate how "reality" shows are staged, but I really think some of the couples on "We Got Married" really do start to fall in love! Wooyoung and Se Young are my favorite couple :) Oh, how funny because Kim So Eun from Liar Game is on "We Got Married" right now-haha

  15. If you click on the title of the shows, I attached the link to the episodes online if you're interested! I love mystery/legal dramas, but I always have to watch them with a friend as I'm am the biggest scaredy cat. "Sherlock" is amazing, and I hope to watch more :) Thank you for your lovely comment about the picture (though I actually photoshopped the "Switched at Birth" screen on because taking pictures of screens usually don't come out so well :|), and my pillow cases came from Bed, Bath & Beyond x

  16. Yes, definitely give season four a go, and tell me what you think :) Emmett and Bay are back together, so I'm happy!

  17. I agree, "Dance Moms" is starting to focus too much on Abby and the annoying moms, but I'm so addicted that I will continue watching-haha Thank you for your suggestions x

  18. Yes, "Dance Moms" is quite the entertaining reality show! My parents don't understand why I enjoy reality shows so much, but everyone needs a little comic relief-haha

  19. Reality shows are the best when you just want to relax! Ooh "Once Upon a Time" is great show, and I enjoyed watching it with my cousin. Captain Hook is my favorite :)

  20. I left the links to watch the episodes online if you're interested :) I watched "Made in Chelsea" for a while and might get back into it soon. I absolutely love "Sherlock" but I'm still on the last episode of season one as I don't have Netflix, and "Downton Abbey" is on my list of shows that I want to watch! What shows do you enjoy watching, Amy?

  21. I feel like I'd be into reality shows but would be the type to admit that I enjoy them...SO NO REALITY TV FOR ME. But ERMAGHERD, I FORGOT ABOUT WGM!!! It's been so long since I was into Korean entertainment culture, but JoKwon + Ga-in and Victoria + Nichkhun were mah faves

  23. I don't watch the first two but Downton Abbey is great. I enjoy watching Emmerdale, that is a soap. Programs like The Apprentice and the Bake Off. I love The Vampire Diaries,The Originals and Community but of course they are American. :)

  26. I feel the same way which is exactly why I wrote this post! "Switched at Birth" is definitely one worth watching, especially if you want to learn a bit more about the deaf community :)

  27. Definitely-haha! I love watching "The Bachelor" with my friends (I'm even trying to make my guy best friend watch it, so we can discuss.) Very excited to watch tonight!

  29. TV is definitely something I love! This season of "The Bachelor" has girls that are dramatic as ever, but that just makes it all the more fun to watch (so excited to watch tonight :) )

  30. I have not watched "Kill Me, Heal Me" yet, but I'll definitely give it a go! Boysitter is pretty good, so maybe try the first episode to see if you would like? WGM is so much fun to watch, and I linked up the Youtube channel I watch it on, so it should be pretty easy to get started again if you wanted to :)

  31. Hey, I loooove The Return of Superman. I'm faithfully watching it every week. Can't get enough of those kids' cuteness, especially the triplets & twins! Haha. Oh, lately I've been taking a step away from K-dramas, I don't know I guess I'm tired of the same plot over and over again. Right now I'm on a dorama fever. Recently just finished watching Nobunaga Concerto and Dear Sister. The last time I watched Taiwanese drama was probably last year, the one that follows a story of chefs. I forgot the title! And here are some Western shows I'd like to catch up with: Downton Abbey, Scandal, Modern Family, and Red Band Society. Ah, always love talking about TV shows!

  32. Isn't "The Return of Superman" just the cutest, most innocent show! It's my favorite way to wind down on a Sunday night. I think it's great that you are able to pull yourself away from K-dramas as I found myself addicted to one at the moment. Have you ever watched "What Happens to my Family?" I do agree though that K-dramas are extremely repetitive and predicable in terms of plot, but I often watch it for the attractive actors :) I think I watched that Taiwanese drama about chefs too! "Downton Abbey" is definitely on my to-watch list, and "Scandal" seems quite interesting! I would also recommend "Sherlock" and "Revenge" :) I love talking about TV as well!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Is that the one on KBS? I have watched the first few episodes but I got annoyed with that country girl. Haha. But, yeah, those good looking guys are great bonuses I always cherish whilst binge-watching K-dramas! ;) If you ever watched + loved House of Cards, I'm sure you'll love Scandal as well. Oh, Sherlock is my absolute favourite! Been following it since Season one. It always drove me crazy waiting for 3 episodes every year, especially that last time they made us waiting for 2 years. Totally worth it, though! I've seen some episodes of Revenge S4 on TV, but I'm not ready yet to watch it from the beginning.

  34. Yes, it is. I actually thought the exact same thing when I started watching, but she has gotten slightly better and the drama starts to focus less on her and more on other characters (especially the older brother who is my favorite :) ) I will definitely give Downton Abbey a go once I get Netflix, and I agree the wait is so long for Sherlock!

  35. Omg WGM.. My fave. But I get so devastated when the couples end and they're not so close anymore :( the current season ones are so good!
