Some of my favorite posts to read are ones where bloggers share their blogging tips! I love to see the blogging community actively engaging in being supportive of one another, and I think sharing personal tips is a great idea. I will be having a new "Blogging Tips" post every other Saturday, so follow me to stay updated!
There is something so serene about staying organized because I love knowing that it's possible to get everything done if I follow my schedule. Here are a few tips that I have been using to keep organized when blogging.
Google Calendar | I am no newbie to this wonderful feature that Google has provided, but I had never used it for blogging. After reading Mercuteify's post on Keeping an Editorial Calendar, I was inspired to start this with blogging as well! She had everything from blogger chats to post publishing dates on there and she also color-coded posts to signify whether or not the post had pictures taken, content written, or was completely finished. What's great is that you can also combine it with your regular Google Calendar to get a full picture of your schedule. I personally find this to be the best feature for keeping a post schedule.
CalenMob | For those of you who are constantly on your phone more than your laptop, CalenMob is definitely the app for you. It's great because it allows you to combine your iPhone calendar, Google calendars, and CalenMob calendar to get a full picture of your day to day schedule. The monthly view has small dots on each day for the number of events you scheduled, the weekly view places events for the week in blocks, and the daily view breaks down your day hour by hour. I personally prefer this over the iPhone calendar as it lays out your whole month rather than scrolling through to see your day by day schedule. CalenMob is also free, so why not?
Buffer | For those of you who struggle to be up at the same time as bloggers from another country or continent, Buffer is the app for you. I actually just downloaded it a few minutes ago, but after seeing so many bloggers recommend it, I knew it was another free app that I needed to share with you. Buffer allows you to schedule your tweets, Facebook posts, etc. ahead of time. This app is also great if you like to tweet or post a certain amount of times a day but often forget or are too busy doing something else (the story of my life). Buffer also provides you with analytics to see how effective your posts really are.
What apps or websites do you use to stay organized for your blog?

I completely in love with CoSchedule to run my blog at the moment, it works as an editorial calendar but you can also sync it with your blog's social media accounts and schedule all your Twitter/Facebook etc posts from there as well, sooo handy! CalenMob sounds really handy as well for managing a blog on the go :)

I am definitely going to look into CoSchedule as it sounds like the perfect blogging app! Thank you for the recommendation :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, I didn't know google has that calendar. This is really such a great tool to be more organized specially I go to school and work.
ReplyDeleteA whole lot of serendipity
I am so glad this could help you! Google Calendar is my favorite thing for scheduling my everyday life as well as my blogging life :)
ReplyDeleteCall me traditional, but I stay by my planner that I write in. I like writing things in and crossing them out when I'm done. There's just something so satisfying about actually using a pen to check things off rather than do it on a device... but that's just me! I do like Google Calendar because it's a lot cleaner if you move stuff around all the time, though.

The google calendar one sounds so useful! Might just have to use that to keep my schedule on track! :)

I want to try Google calendars soon. Bets writing on a paper calender since I change my mind a lot! I use hootsuite to schedule tweets, though I want to try tweetdeck soon. I use a notebook for anything blog related, though I have a google doc with my blog posts ideas that haven't materialized yet.

I think it's lovely that you write in a planner! Technology has taken over such a huge part of ours lives that it's nice when some things are still traditional. I transitioned to using Google Calendar because I would write in my planner for the first few weeks, but then get lazy and abandon it later-haha As for blogging, I switch the dates of my posts a lot, so it's helpful when I can easily move it to another date :)
ReplyDeleteI would highly recommend Google Calendar! It's such a useful tool, and it keeps everything clean and organized. It's also extremely easy to move a task or event from one day to another, and the color coding feature also makes it fun to play around with :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely give Google Calendars a go, and tell me what you think! I tend to change my mind when it comes to deciding what to post as well, so it has been a perfect blog planning tool for me :)
ReplyDeleteI admire people who are organised like this! I take a very recreational approach to my blog so I don't pressure myself on creating content for the sake of it. Any ideas I might have, I'll scribble in a notebook and look into them when the occasion arises.

I love keeping everything organized, so I'm always interested in posts like these! :) I use a notebook to organize my post ideas for my blog at the moment, but I definitely want to start using some apps like this. Thank you for sharing <3 I just stumbled across your blog and I love it!!
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you Kat. That is so sweet of you to say :) Honestly though, aside from blogging, I am horrible at sticking to my schedule.
ReplyDeleteBlogging is definitely a hobby for me as well. It's just that I'm becoming more and more dedicated to it now, so I really like having consistent content for my readers every week :) For the first two years that I had my blog, I would post whenever, and I even went a few months without posting because school got so busy and I kind of lost interest. Some months I would have a ton of ideas and some I had very few or none at all, so it really varied. I think the one thing that changed for me was that I realized blogging could help give me experience for my future career in business (maybe even marketing and international business) and that really motivated me to be consistent and to expand my blog :)
I am so glad you enjoyed reading this post! I love these type of posts as well which is why I decided to start a "Blogging Tips" series as I think the blogging community is one where we should all help each other out. Thank you so much Melissa! I'm so happy you found my blog, and I look forward to talking to you on future posts :)
ReplyDeleteOoo Buffer sounds very interesting! Might have to download that to check it out. I'm still figuring out how to organise my blogging right now. Will definitely check back on this post for some ideas :)

I'm a newbie to Buffer, but I think it will quickly become a very useful app of mine! It took me a while to think of how often I wanted to post as that's a big commitment. In the past, I even went a few months without posting, so I'm trying my best to become more dedicated to my blog. So glad this post could help you :)
ReplyDeleteI totally understand. At the end of last year, I only posted once a month and they were usually hauls. I really want to try my best this year to review/swatch products and get more ideas! I'm still unsure when I want to post as I think 3 times a week is too much for me right now. I'm going to run out of ideas soon :(
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I plan all my posts in my organizer, but I see that Google Calender is a great way to plan ahead! I haven't heard of CalenMob or Buffer before, I will have to check them out! x
ReplyDeleteawesome post emily! super like the idea. good job :)

Thank you, Paige! Google Calendar is great especially if you are like me and change your mind on when to post things all the time :) Tell me if CalenMob or Buffer works out for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteBlogging tips posts are so informative, and I really like the fact that bloggers are willing to help other bloggers out! When I started using Google Calendar for my blog, I found that it kept me on track to post regularly :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it's definitely a great tool for making sure I post regularly!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely! It especially helps if you are trying to start a post schedule :)
ReplyDeleteI don't use any of these tools -- eekk! I am more old-fashioned, I like writing them down in my planner or post-its! Ha :) BUt I guess, whatever works for us, right? :)
ReplyDeleteFound you in one of the fashion blogs I frequent and thought I'd give you a visit. Would you like to connect via GFC or other social networks? Let me know if that is something that is of interest to you :)

I think writing your ideas is lovely as well! I just can't keep up when I do that, but don't worry I have tons of post-it's all over my room as reminders :) Yes, whatever works is best!
ReplyDeleteOh something I'd recommend using for sure is One Note it's even better than google calendar, try it out it's what I use for blogging x

I love anything that keeps me organized, especially when it comes to apps! As of now I don't have an editorial calendar but it most definitely sounds like a must-have for a smooth-running blog. Thanks a lot for sharing these tips, very helpful of you :)
ReplyDeleteI will definitely take a look at One Note! Thanks for the suggestion Stefanie :)
ReplyDeleteI think an editorial works great if you really want to stick to a posting schedule. One of my goals this year is to post every Wednesday and Saturday, and I know that if I don't plan it out like this, that will never happen. I'm glad you found these tips helpful :) If you ever try any of them out, please tell me how they work out for you!
ReplyDeleteThe Google calendar might be a really good idea. I've been using a paper calendar for now but it's a little messy as I tend to shift many things around, which results in a lot of scrapping and replanning... I'll definitely look into it, thanks for the great tips! c:
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely been such a lifesaver for me because I change my post dates around a lot as well! Tell me if it works out :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Buffer sounds like such a great idea! I'll have to download it and check it out :)
ReplyDeleteTechnology and blogging definitely go hand in hand! I'm more like a "scribble everything down on a piece of paper" person, but I do also love apps that keep me organised. Whoever came up with Buffer, Tweetdeck and Hootsuite are geniuses. :)

ReplyDeleteAgreed! Twitter is a blogging companion, and these apps make life so much easier :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it's definitely a great tool for organization, especially if you like to move posts around like me!
ReplyDeleteNo, I think it's lovely that you still do that! I've tried to write in a planner for many, many years now, but I have never kept it up after a few weeks. Make sure to keep me updated if Buffer works out for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Camey! That means so much to me as I am a huge fan of your blog :)

ReplyDeleteGlad you found this helpful! That's amazing that I have a reader from Indonesia :)
ReplyDeleteBuffer is one of my fave apps as well! I also really like Pocket. I currently use Excel as my calendar but I like the look of Google Calendar as well.
