Review | Origins Make a Difference Plus+ Rejuvenating Moisturizer

Sometimes I feel like my skin shrivels up like the ground in the Sahara Desert. The heater is both a blessing and a curse as I love to be nice and warm, but my skin doesn't hold up well with all the extra heat. In turn, I have noticed my skin to start peeling which is gross because I am not a onion. No, just no. The Origins Make a Difference Plus+ Rejuvenating Moisturizer has been my biggest helper in conquering the wrath of my heater, and I owe every bit of skin happiness to this deliciously-scented goodness.

A little skin history story for you. I always thought I had oily skin, and maybe I did when I was in my preteen years. However when I went to Origins earlier this year, they in fact informed me that I have combination skin, and I really do believe them. I was always a skeptic for using moisturizer because I thought that my oily skin couldn't handle it. My skin's shiny reflection was enough to make a mirror scream for help, so I refused to put on moisturizer for years and years on end. Thankfully, the wonderful lady at Origins convinced me that I still need to be using a face moisturizer and helped me to pick out the Origins Make a Difference Plus+. The difference between this one and every other face cream or lotion I have tried is that it is a gel moisturizer. Gel moisturizers are the perfect thing for people with an oilier complexion. The gel formula allows your skin to feel hydrated without feeling greasy, and it works great both in the morning under my makeup and at night as a light face moisturizer. Make a Differnece Plus+ is infused with Rose of Jericho and a Lychee and Watermelon hydra-sustain complex that feels hydrating and smells delicious. The only downside would be the price at $41, but I would rather splurge on skincare than makeup so it's well worth it for me.

What's your favorite face moisturizer?

  1. This sounds really lovely - I actually haven't tried a gel moisturiser before I don't think, but I have combo skin as well so it may be worth a try! I remember a few other bloggers say this was good for their acne as well!

  2. I think you would love it! The lady at Origins put a bit on my hand and face while I was there, and I immediately fell in love with how hydrating it is. It's a very light moisturizer, so it's great for both morning and night. I definitely had a bit of a breakout recently, and this has done nothing to irritate it, so I would agree with them!

  3. I have quite dry skin for an Asian (as we tend to get more oily) and a teen, so I probably won't be testing this one out. I also find gel moisturizers aren't enough moisture for me. But it's good to hear that it's working out for you!

  4. Yes, a thicker cream would probably be best for someone with drier skin. Origins has a lovely range of skincare products though, so I would still recommend their brand :)

  5. This looks like such a nice product! I haven't tried Origins yet, as I'm totally in love with the Bioderma range. Maybe I'll pop in sometime :)

  6. I would love to try something from Bioderma as I've heard so many good things about their Sensibio cleansers! Sadly, it's so hard to get a hold of here in the States. But I would highly recommend Origins as well :)

  8. This looks lovely! I have quite dry hands due to the cold weather at the moment in the UK, so I might give this a try! x

  12. My skin is horribly dry at the moment. My mum used a lot of origin products - it's just a little out of my price range so I'll have to steal some of my mum's!!! I've heard good things about it.

  13. No, I completely understand where you're coming from! My parents actually bought this for me, but it would have definitely been out of my price range as well :) Definitely worth it thought as I got my mom hooked!

  15. I heard that oily skin needs a moisturizer because without it, it thinks it needs to produce even more oils because of the lack of moisture, if that makes sense? My sister used to think she had oily skin as well, but it turned out to be dry skin that was producing too much oil.

It makes more sense to splurge on a good skincare product anyway, because the most makeup can do is cover up bad skin while skincare helps the skin :)

  16. Yes, I would highly recommend them! This particular moisturizer has been my skin savior these past few weeks :)

  17. Yes, I have heard that before! I honestly never believed it, but I am noticing improvements in my skin since I've started to use this moisturizer on a regular basis. I completely agree with you that makeup can only cover the bad skin that good skin care products could potentially fix :)

  18. Origins is slowly making its way to my heart. Really great review! I have dry-combination skin and wonder if this would work for me, perhaps in the summer when a lightweight moisturizer sits right. Will take a look at this in the store :)

  19. I've never tried anything from Origins before. Thanks for the fact about the gel! I like to use La Roche Posay Effaclar H, and their Cicaplast if my skin is flaky (works wonders!)

  20. I used to think that my oily skin didn't need any moisturizer too. :) Wow, I imagine that the moisturizer would certainly smell delicious with such awesome ingredients in it.

  21. Agreed, Origins is making its way into my heart as well! I am excited to try more products in the future :) Glad you enjoyed the review! I think it's a great face moisturizer for the entire year if you have oily to combination skin, but since you mentioned dryness, I think this would suit your skin perfectly as a moisturizer for summer xx

  22. I haven't tried too many things from Origins yet, but I have loved the products I tried. If you get a chance, I would definitely recommend trying them out! I will definitely look into La Roche Posay as I have seen it mentioned quite a few times in the blogging world :)

  23. Yes, it's so hard to believe that a moisturizer wouldn't add onto already oily skin! I think it's all about picking the right moisturizer, and gel moisturizers seem to work the best. It smells incredible, and it makes applying it so much more enjoyable :) I figure if I'm putting something onto my face, the least it could do is smell nice!

  24. I prefer creams over gel moisturizers but I love the cooling effect that gel moisturizers have! Glad you've found a way to deal with your oily skin! :)

  28. I am OBSESSED with everything Origins, and have actually had my eye on this exact moisturizer for a while now. I too have slightly oilier skin so moisturizers are a little scary to me, but I knew this had an oil-friendly gel formula...glad to know it works!
Your blog is pretty awesome, by the way. I love all of your posts and your layout is so nice and pretty!

  29. I hear so many good things about Origins, yet I've only ever tried their Drink Up Intensive Mask! I think I might have a little snoop at their moisturisers, great post!

  30. Thank you! Yes, definitely take a look at their moisturizers (both me and my mom have a slight obsession with them). The Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask is actually one I'm keen on trying :) How do you like it?

  32. It's really nice, I have really dry skin and my skin feels so nourished and soft after using it. I prefer to use it over night than as a 15 minute mask though. :)

  33. Yes, it's definitely a skin savior for these dry winter months! If you ever try it out, I would love to hear your thoughts :)

  35. I'm currently using a moisturizer from the same range, the darker bottle, the one meant for dry skin and it's been amazing so far! I find it really hydrating as opposed to something that just sits over the skin. It's actually helped get rid of some dry patches in a very small amount of time and I'm very impressed! Glad it works for you too! xx

  36. Origins is my current favorite skincare brand, and I tried out their Checks and Balances cleanser last night and loved it!
