Lake Arrowhead | Food

I love the snow, or so I think. Where I live in Southern California, I get plenty of sunshine but no snow. Luckily, my family and I traveled up to Lake Arrowhead to enjoy a bit of wilderness and snow over this Christmas break. We took so many pictures that I will have to break this trip into three posts, but let's just say I'm having lots of fun playing with the fluffy snow!

Part one is mostly food, which to me is never a bad thing. Monday night we enjoyed making gingerbread cookies and hot chocolate. Then this morning we woke up at 7 a.m. to make egg nog french toast and spinach, onion, and tomato crustless quiche. The quiche was the star of the show, and we used this very simple recipe but improvised a bit by adding whole milk and diced tomatoes. We also had some yummy bagels from Avalon with Philadelphia Chive and Onion Cream Cheese (everyone must try this life changing cream cheese). The last picture is the view from our top balcony of the gorgeous Lake Arrowhead. I just love being able to see the lake or the ocean from my window!

Have you made anything yummy this Christmas break?

  8. I had a cupcake obsession a couple years ago, and Cupcake Wars was one of my favorite shows to watch :-) Going out with friends is always one of my favorite things to do as well. Happy New Year to you too!

  9. Those tins are adorable! I used to think I wasn't a quiche fan until I tried some quiches over the holidays. BUT THEN AGAIN,CHEESE IN ANYTHING IS BOUND TO BE AMAZE. (Philly's herb and garlic cream cheese is where its at for me!)

As for what I cooked over the holidays--a giant a$$ turkey for 15 people. All in a day's work.

  10. They're just the cutest things aren't they? I have yet to sample all the flavors, but so far so good :) Same, on the quiche! I honestly do not like egg, but I will eat it when it's baked with veggies and lots and lots of cheese! A bagel is truly not a bagel without Philly's herb and garlic cream cheese. Wow, you cooked your own gigantic turkey?! That's amazing as my aunt is always the one who does that, but we only have it for Thanksgiving since us Americans celebrate that :)
